How it started
In 2001, during the construction boom, a niche in the market was recognised by a keen entrepreneur and Handles Inc. was born. Lawrence Koff wanted to change the perception of how big a difference a seemingly small detail, like a door handle can make and offer the best service and product in the market.
Starting out from the original shop in Strand Street, today there are 4 branches in the Western Cape with the head office located in Bree Street, Cape Town.
Our range covers well over 16 000 inventory items with a selection to suit every design and budget. We are the choice supplier and retailer to everyone from the DIY handyman to the top architects, builders and designers in South Africa.
Our offering ranges from handles to door controls and mechanisms, specialised window fittings, custom-made and bespoke ironmongery, bathroom fittings and a host of accessories that serve the industry.
Partnering with OLIVARI
The Italian manufacturer OLIVARI approached us to distribute their products in South Africa. They have been crafting handles since 1911 and are the market leaders, globally. This exclusive partnership between Olivari and Handles Inc changed the playing field as their handles were welcomed by Architects, Specifiers, Builders, Interiors and Consumers alike. It opened up opportunities and changed the landscape of handles in South Africa. We are able to offer our clients the widest selection including Olivari, Mandelli, Formani, Oro & Oro, Besana, JUSTOR , SIPAM , FRITS JURGENS , OTLV, Rocky Mountain Hardware and more. Our appetite to find exceptional local and global products and brands is ongoing.
